If the Police arrest you

If the Police arrest you

If you have a traffic incident and a policemen arrests you do any of the following:

1. Ask the policeman if he/she has carried a cash bail receipt; pay your bail and go away.

2. If you are in  a hurry and the receipt book is at the police station, surrender your license or ID and inform the policeman you will go to the police station later and pay your cash bail.

3. Most policemen enter your car and hope that they will negotiate with you a little bribe on the way to the police station. They will alight and if you pay 'something.' A policeman  has powers to impound a vehicle if it is suspended that a crime has been committed using the vehicle. If the policeman wants to enter the car, don't resist. Allow him/her in but drive to the police station. If the policeman is arrogant or menacing, keep your cool. Don't utter a word. If he/she is friendly go to point no. 4

4.  A policeman has powers to pardon a traffic offender. Be  friendly. Attempt to plead your case. Don't antagonise. Some offenses are  minor.  No need to escalate. But don't pay a bribe.
